BOUQUETS FOR SALE!
Throughout my life art has helped me through some difficult situations. Art is a force that can turn something negative into a positive gesture. Recently I was a victim of fraud on my TD Bank account. The TD Bank refused to compensate me for this financial loss (despite the fact their profits were 49 billion in 2022). It was a devastating experience but instead of wallowing in self-pity and worry, I made a collage bouquet every night for 30 days. I am selling them as a way to help offset my financial loss and to share an act of optimism in our upside-down world.
Conspicuous Bouquets are collages that are part of a series of work based on the idea of conspicuous consumption and desire. The collage elements in these bouquets are made from high-end fashion items found in glossy magazines. While the objects in the magazine are beautiful to look at, there is a cost to nature to produce so many of these products. These collage bouquets are made almost entirely of images of unnatural items, and are constructed to look both beautiful and strange.
